What is the World of Wine Festival?

The World of Wine Festival is Southern Oregon’s premier wine event showcasing the outstanding wines made exclusively with Southern Oregon grapes. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, August 28th from 5-9 p.m. at Del Rio Vineyards in Gold Hill.

In its eighth year, World of Wine highlights the expertise of local wine grape growers and the creativity of regional winemakers. Over forty wineries will be in attendance pouring wines to pair with a delicious array of gourmet foods prepared by local artisan producers and renowned restaurants.

A professional judged wine competition will also take place prior to the festival with medalists announced in time to taste at the event.

Come sip your way through our wonderful region!

"Good Times, Fine Wines"

We want to thank you, and the entire crew at Troon for making our visit so memorable.

We had several wineries scheduled, but after settling in at Troon for Vinolab and lunch,

Barry asked why we would want to go any place else! Good question....so we stayed

Thank you! the food pairings were exceptional; the wines, wonderful; and the people have customer service perfected. We appreciate all your efforts, and look forward to returning again soon.

Winery & Vineyard Update

Winery:

  • Going through and doing bench blends program by program
  • Making blends on the bench
  • Blending from barrel to tank
  • Pulling and cleaning barrels
  • Refilling barrels with blended wine
  • Working on Druid’s Fluids tasting/blending process
  • We are sold out of the 2008 Kubli Bench Zinfandel
  • Bottling planned for September 1st and 2nd
  • Vineyard:

    • In the vineyard:
    • We are shoot thinning, suckering, and mowing right now, and expect to be nearly finished with our first pass of shoot thinning this week.
    • Flowering is quite late this year, which also puts our projected harvest to be late – with (on average) 16 weeks from flowering to picking we are looking at harvest in mid to late October
  • The planting of the block at O’Neill will finish today.  We will now have Petit Sirah, Malbec, Tannat, Tempranillo, Vermentino, Riesling and Early Muscat on approximately 10 acres.  Thanks to Herb’s AVM crew for all their effort in planting this block.
  • Our olive trees have arrived.  Most are going into the mustard field on the O’Neill property, with some going into the landscaping at Troon.
  • The grapevine nursery is coming along nicely, with lots of small green shoots throughout
  • The grafted blocks are looking good, especially the Vermentino (formerly the Young Cab) where we are seeing excellent growth
  • Thank you for your support!
